Boat Yard Services In Seattle

Northwest Marine Fiberglass partners with Canal Boat Yard, which offers state of the art haul out facilities in Seattle’s historic marine district along the Ballard Ship Canal to recreational boaters and commercial fishermen.

Canal Boat Yard has been consistently awarded top honors for customer satisfaction from local and regional boating associations. Their commitment to customer service, and our close working relationship with the yard for over twenty years combine to ensure that our customer’s haul out will go smoothly and that the experience will be a positive one.

From being thorough while pressure washing the bottom when the boat is hauled, to blocking boats higher or lower depending on the dictates of the work being done, the courteous staff helps get the job off to a good start. Trying to do a major keel repair when a boat is blocked a little too close to the ground can make it much more uncomfortable and time consuming than it needs to be. Sanding a bottom that has been hastily pressure washed goes slower and uses more abrasive discs as they gum up with marine growth residue. The Canal Boatyard crew is responsive to the needs of the job and makes our job easier.

Yard manager Ivaylo Minkov runs a tight ship, and scheduling is taken seriously. Boat owners will not have the frustrating experience of hustling to make it to the yard for their scheduled haul out, only to wait for a half hour or more for the yard to be ready for them. That said, our customers who have a longer distance to travel, or travel plans that might make it difficult for them to arrive on time, are often accommodated by allowing them to leave the boat on the dock a day prior to their scheduled haul out.

Sometimes there’s work to be done even before the boat is lifted out of the water. A topside or deck paint job means that the mast needs to come out so that the boat can be moved under cover. The experienced crew at Canal Boatyard, working with our select riggers make this important procedure go smoothly.

While in the yard a full range of boat yard services is available to our customers. In addition to hauling, launching, pressure washing, and mast stepping, there is equipment to handle any heavy lifting that the job may require. Batteries, generators, gyro- stabilizers, and engines can be lifted and set in place by the yard’s experienced equipment operators.

While we are working on a boat, owners can know that their vessel is secure. Canal Boatyard is fenced, gated, and monitored by security cameras; however, our customers have 24 hour a day access to their vessel. They are issued an individualized gate code so
they can stop by any time. During business hours cars must be left outside the gate, but after hours they are able to drive right up to their boat to load or unload anything they might need to, or just to stop by and see how work is progressing.

For over twenty-four years Canal Boatyard has been our home base. It has allowed Northwest Marine Fiberglass to do the work we do, and to offer our customers a full range of boatyard services. Go to canalboatyard.com. for a full list of available boat yard services.
