Paul has been working in the boating business his entire life and brings over 40 years of practical experience to his jobs.
As soon as he was old enough to work, he began acquiring various skills at Mystic River Shipyard and Dodson's Boatyard in the boating towns of Mystic and Stonington, Connecticut.
A year in the Caribbean maintaining the boats for a charter boat company and later working as crew on a sailing yacht was followed by nine years at Crowley's Yacht Yard in Chicago.
While at Crowley's, he worked in the repair and refinishing department, where he was responsible for writing estimates, training and supervising the six-man crew, and completing jobs as lead fiberglass technician and painter. At Crowley's, he also added mold making and custom fabrication to his fiberglass and painting skills, enabling him to buy a hurricane-damaged Baba 40', ship it from Connecticut, and rebuild half of the port side, including the interior furniture which he had shipped from Ta Shing Shipyard in Taiwan. He sold the boat to a retiring Rhode Island commercial captain who made several ocean crossings in it.
Having children dictated a relocation from Chicago to Seattle, where he worked for a number of years as a fiberglass repair technician and lead painter at Yachtfish Marine on Lake Union. Here, he was involved in cutting and extending several boats, building a plug and a mold for a 30 ft launch, and building a Kevlar offshore race boat.
He opened Northwest Marine Fiberglass in its present location next to Canal Boatyard in Ballard in 2000 and has been working diligently to provide a high level of service to Seattle boaters for over 20 years. His hands-on involvement and personalized attention have built a loyal following.
